Beer Harvest 2022 (VIII. year)
Beer party was favoured by the spectators and the weather
Tropical weather and the corresponding thirst of visitors accompanied this year's Beer Festival, which after a two-year forced break took place on 25 June on Masaryk Square in Nový Jičín.
To the great joy of the brewers from microbreweries from our and foreign partner cities, 101 hectolitres of the golden spirit were poured out in a varied composition! This also includes 250 litres of beer, which was tapped free of charge by a microbrewery from Ludwigsburg, Germany, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the partnership with Nový Jičín. Another hectolitre was supplied by a brewery from the Belgian region of Wallonia, one of the oldest participants in the Beer Festival. It also cooperates with Nový Jičín in the field of tourism with an emphasis on learning about the history and culture of both countries.
The chefs were also active, treating the visitors to, for example, baked selet or sweet potato fries. Local entrepreneurs also took the opportunity to offer burgers and other specialties. Wine tasting for "non-drinkers" was also a welcome change.
The cultural programme was highlighted by a concert by the legendary band Stromboli and a zither ensemble from the partner city Ludwigsburg. It is therefore no wonder that thousands of people visited the Beer Festival throughout the day, and none of the 800 seats remained vacant.
Visitors often took away interesting souvenirs with the festival brand, such as a glass "beer mug", from which they can continue to sip their favourite drink after the festival. The returnable cups with a unique print were also very popular - 2,500 of them were not returned, which suggests that people liked them...
In addition to the brewers, cooks, stallholders, performers and organisers, our partners, whom we thank very much, were responsible for the successful running of the festival of golden beverage. We would like to mention the KODIS company and the Moravian-Silesian Region, which made it possible to visit the Pivobraní to the inhabitants of the surrounding towns and villages. The local armwrestling club for its active participation in the beer competition, the Rožnov Beer Spa, Tonak, Pivovar Rychtář, Hotel Maralák, Hotel Troyer and the town of Kremnica, which donated gift vouchers, vouchers, accommodation vouchers and other gifts for the competitors, and the Mozaika Family Centre for its excellent children's corner, also deserve recognition. Thanks also go to Czech Railways for sending a historic steam train, the municipality of Suchdol nad Odrou and the municipality of Šenov u Nový Jičína for their financial contribution to these nostalgic rides, Tomáš Preiss and
to the excellent guides for the experiential rides on the historic bus and to Jiří Pekárek, who made the premises of the former brewery in the Bocheta district available to those interested. We would also like to thank the town of Nový Jičín for its financial support for the Beer Festival. A big thank you to the organizing team
of the Nový Jičín Visitor Centre, without whom the festival could not have been realized.
