Beer Harvest 2024 (X. year)
Over 130 types of beer from 30 craft breweries from the Czech Republic and abroad, a rich cultural programme including a concert by a world-famous rock legend and thousands of satisfied visitors who drank 20,000 litres of the golden beverage - this was the 10th anniversary edition of the Pivobraní festival, which took place on 21 and 22 June in Nový Jičín.
For the first time, the festival was spread over two days and offered people great entertainment and enjoyment of the honest work of our and foreign brewers. Each brewery presented 3 to 5 types of beer and beer specials. The tasting of the frothy beverage was suitably complemented by a wide selection of domestic and foreign gastronomy. The slogan "Hospitality to the full", which was used for the returnable drink cups, was fulfilled.
Not only Masaryk Square, but also the entire historic centre of the town was alive with beer. Gastronomic, gaming and relaxation zones also grew up in the Laudon Courtyard, in the area in front of Žerotín Castle and in the adjacent streets. The most anticipated cultural event of the festival was the concert of the legendary Scottish band Nazareth, which prepared an unforgettable experience especially for rock fans. Visitors also enjoyed performances by regional bands and the better-known groups Čechomor and Mydy, as well as the Italian funk band Ridillo.
The accompanying programme was equally attractive. A great response was met with the right-wing rides through the city in a historic bus. The cellars of the former brewery in the Bocheta district were exceptionally open to those interested, and the owner himself gave them a guided tour. The hot dog eating contest turned into a thrilling spectacle, and the darts throwing contest even produced record-breaking performances. The new mascot of the festival - Pivák - also had a successful premiere and willingly took photos with his fans.
After last year's failure, the late evening bus service from Nový Jičín to the surrounding towns and villages worked reliably this time. Visitors will thus remember this year's Beer Festival as an event in which they had a good time and enjoyed pleasant hospitality across generations.
