Refundable cups

You can buy a cup at any stand, whether it is a beer or a snack stand. Cups 0,3l and 0,5l are returnable, 50 CZK deposit if you don't want them to keep as a souvenir. :-)

From 2022 onwards, visitors to important cultural events in Nový Jičín, such as the Beer Festival or the Town Festival, can refresh themselves from the returnable cups with a stylish print designed by Pavel Kozubík from the PAPE Gallery for the City of Nový Jičín. The organisers are pursuing a twofold objective - to reduce waste by using reusable cups, made of recyclable material and to present the town through a festival brand which includes cups with original printing. Their capacity is 0.5 litres, with the option of being calibrated to 0.3 and 0.4 litres.              

And since the main venue of the major events is usually Masaryk Square, the authors of the art designs were inspired by the landmarks of the historic city centre - the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the Marian column and the beautiful buildings of Old Post Office, Laudon House, the Town Hall and Žerotín Castle.

But none of these gems is captured alone on the cup’s design. It is always surrounded by the people of the town. Among them, there are locals and tourists, a mother with a child, a businessman, a senior citizen, lovers, a policeman, a cyclist, a backpacker, a musician, an ice cream man, and others. A slightly humorous element is the fact that everyone is wearing a hat because it is just a part of Nový Jičín. We hope you will like the new cups!

HOW THE PROCEDURE WILL WORK

• You visit a stand and I don’t yet have a refundable cup.
  • You purchase a new refundable cup for CZK 50 from the staff. The deposit is only collected when you pay for the first beverage. This refundable cup is available at all the stands.
• You visit a stand with a purchased refundable cup.
  • The staff will take your used, undamaged refundable cup and replace with a new, clean cup (this replacement of a used cup with a new cup is necessary for hygienic reasons).
• You are leaving the Beer Harvest and wish to return your refundable cup
  • We will only refund the deposit you paid for your cup at the refund stand – the Nový Jičín tent in the corner of the square (side by the church). We refund CZK 50 for undamaged cups. No refund can be provided if the refundable cup is cracked, the strap is broken off or is otherwise damaged. We only provide a refund for cups from this event (not cups from other festivals).

HIRE FEE FOR CARRIERS FOR REFUNDABLE CUPS WITH CLIP

Are you planning to visit the festival with your family or friends? This year we have obtained carriers, which will make carrying a larger number of cups from the draught tent much more pleasant and easier.

You can hire a carrier for a refundable CZK 100 deposit at the “cup refund” stand.

Handling:

Please handle them considerately, as if they were yours and not just borrowed. Return the carrier in its original condition, it is not intended for other bottles, but only for refundable cups, so please do not overload it.

CUP REFUND

You can find the cup refund stand in the tent in the corner of the square (in the direction of the parish church).

IT WILL ONLY BE POSSIBLE TO RETURN THE CUPS ON THE DAY THE BEER HARVEST FESTIVAL TAKES PLACE, UNTIL 1 A.M. AT THE LATEST, AND ONLY AT THE REFUND STAND. PLEASE RESPECT THIS REGULATION. ATTEMPTS TO RETURN THE CUPS AT A LATER DATE WILL NOT BE ACKNOWLEDGED.

 

VISUAL CONCEPT OF RETURNABLE CUPS FOR THE TOWN OF NOVY JICIN

The idea of the reversible cups is based upon the concept of capturing the beauty of the town of Nový Jičín, its inhabitants, modern society, and unforgettable events that you can experience in this town. The competition itself required that the cups promote the city of Nový Jičín and present its beauty. Our idea from the very beginning was to connect the town's citizens and its architecture because both inherently belong together. The city has a beautiful and unique square as well as the town's residents. The cultural events themselves (the Town Festival, the Beer Festival), for which the cups were made, are held on the square. The graphics of the cups are inspired by the square's selected landmarks and the surrounding area (church, Marian Column, Old Post Office, Laudon House, Town Hall, Žerotín Chateau). The people, visitors, tourists - a mother and her child, a shopkeeper, a senior citizen, lovers, a policeman, a cyclist, a backpacker, a musician, an ice-cream maker, and others are all included. A slightly funny element is the fact that everyone is wearing a hat because it simply belongs to Nový Jičín. The intention was to emphasize that it is all about meeting people, communication, and entertainment. That's why the graphic design is built only on art made of fonts. All buildings and people are made of letters and all the symbols that the chosen font offers. We have aimed for an original and funny, playful form. The graphic encourages you to search, wander and explore the historic city centre. The chosen slogan only reinforces our intention.

PAPE Gallery - we are a cultural space that is conceived as a gallery, art shop and graphic studio in one. We are located in the centre of the city of Odry, where we have been operating since 2016. We deal with advertising graphics, visual style, logotypes, web and packaging design and bookbinding. Our goal is quality work, joy, and a high aesthetic level. We have already held about 20 exhibitions in the gallery space of contemporary art, and in the art shop, we offer our own paper products and original products by various designers.
